As that story highlights, the hypocrisy's incredible actually. Man flirting with female presenter = creepy lech. Female presenter flirting with and objectifying the hell out of unsuspecting, all but naked member of public = playful and fun.

Shouldn't both be treated the same?

If you completely abstract the issue from the fact that we live in a male-dominated society where sexual harrassment is an everyday reality for many women, there's literally no difference between them.

To clarify, I don't think either is really acceptable. But nor are they the same.

I think they're different. I think if a male reporter hit on a bikini clad stranger during a segment, that it wouldn't be lauded or labelled as brave. If that's what had happened we could compare. But having just watched the Gayle video for the first time, he's clearly at work being interviewed about a match and all but ignored the reporters questions to tell her he came over just to see her, to ask her for a drink, "don't blush baby", and that he wanted to look in her eyes. Not outrageous or sexist imo, just contextually inappropriate and disrespectful.

What's deemed an acceptable way for men to cross their legs when sitting?

Apparently how I cross my legs is the source of my hilarity at work.

Your foot has to rest on your knee. Along these lines

Not this

If I rest my foot/ankle on the opposite knee with the leg that's folded almost horizontal, in the typical slouched, manly position, my foot goes numb then I get fucking brutal pins and needles when the numbness wears off.

If I sit in the more feminine position with my leg completely folded over the other ie. Brendan Dassey's 2nd pick I get shooting pains down my lower leg and in my hip.

So I kind of do a half and half. I cross my leg so half way down my lower leg lies on the other knee and my leg lies at a kind of angle.

Which is fucking hilarious apparently.

Sounds like you need to get your back seen to rather than sitting like a girl.

Just rest my ankle on my knee i think, it's more of a subconscious thing, don't really think about it ever.

Takes a certain level of confidence I reckon.

Not a fan of the ankle on the knee stance. It's a bit "manspread"ish.

I'm a full cross man, like Draper above. Anything else looks weak.

For the full Don Draper you need to unbutton your suit jacket whilst taking a seat. Master that, Bert, and you're golden.

Agreed. But anyone not unbuttoning their suit whilst sitting down should be lined up against a wall imho

Just got this message from my mate about his wife's gran:

Quote:[redacted]'s gran  bought what she thought were decorative Chinese chiming balls when she was in Singapore.

They sit proud in a display cabinet in the living room.

Nobody has the heart to tell her they are in fact Ben wa balls. I cannot stop laughing at this!!!

Think they're talking about polite/working situations Lewis. Not what you do when you're sat in your pants in the house.
