Remember years ago in Livingston, the police had an initiative agreed with taxi drivers that they had to stop and take lone females home if they saw them. Dunno if that's still the case or not but it was a good idea. I think taxi firms have a social responsibility to do that tbh.

It's a good idea, but could still be open to abuse - people pretending to be taxi drivers etc.

I'm not sure what the best solution is, but the right people definitely need to be doing more.
