We just have a World so desperate to find offense in anything and everything. He is an incredibly easy target for the easily offended - it's open day. Every day.
He handled it "just fine". So "just fine", in fact, that business executives abandoned him en masse, he was condemned by his own military, as well as leaders all over the world, former Presidents and even the Pope. All of them, you understand, only doing this because they were "so desperate to find offense". Every one of them only doing it because the easily offended bus was in town. Toot toot, all aboard! Not one of them doing it because of their horror and disgust at this vile, dangerous apologist for Nazis, fascists and racists; not one of them doing it because they love America, and hate what he's doing to it.
Elsewhere, you've admitted you know next to nothing about the place, or even him, in any case. In other words, you're literally just pissing into the wind. Like some bloke down the pub yelling as loudly as possible, while saying less and less of any actual interest to anyone.
There are many different kinds of posters on internet messageboards. But in my experience, there's three in particular:
1. Vanilla posters. Perfectly equable, likeable, agree with the majority opinion on more or less everything, blend into the background, and somehow manage to spend decades on end never saying anything which raises eyebrows or provokes the thoughts of anyone. TalkHearts example: Ross.
2. "Controversial" posters. These are people who think they're being clever, or act like they're some higher form of genius, while saying nothing original, nothing of any actual interest. Some, like i8hibsh, literally thrive on being thought of as the village idiot: the more ridiculous they can be, the better. It's just some character they play online for whatever reason.
3. Genuinely thought-provoking posters. Few and far between, it's true - but people who enjoy debate, are usually well-informed, and every now and then, say something which really makes others think. Gives them a new perspective. Years ago on Kickback, you were in this group. Now you're in category 2, and have been well and truly nailed on the last couple of pages by Roger - who for all my many run-ins with him on here, is very much category 3.
PS. "But some NATO bloke on the Beeb said X, I brought it up and no-one replied to me!" So what? Who gives a shit, really? Some NATO bloke opened his gob, let his belly rumble, and by the sounds of it, articulated a whole bunch of shit. Nothing interesting about it - so naturally, no-one took any interest.
I trust that clarifies matters to your satisfaction.
