I remember bumping into a pished Ken Buchanan at a cash machine in leith walk. He was saying he was going to get back in to boxing with a broken back.

A lot of older/retired boxers end up pretty tragic unfortunately. Probably due to the nature of the sport.

I remember him stopping me and my mates when we were walking to primary school one morning.

Must have been about 8.30am in 1994 and he was stopping a bunch of 6 year olds on their way to school pissed off his face to ask them if they knew who he was. Obviously didn't have a clue who he was at that time and he pulled out his wallet to show us photos of him boxing.

Thinking back on it it's pretty fucking brutal seeing folk like that considering what they had. Pretty sure he lost a shitload of money in a failed hotel and his Mrs took the rest in his divorce.
